Cheltenham’s Regent Arcade is doing its bit for the county’s recycling efforts by hosting an inspiring prize draw for local residents.
Thisisgloucestershire.co.uk explains that shopping centre bosses want to collect as many shoes as possible to recycle in a Cinderella-inspired challenge.
As the clock strikes 12pm everyday, staff will draw a pair of donated shoes from the centre’s dedicated recycling bins and read off the name of the winning customer, whose details are attached to their deposited shoes.
Winners of the draw will receive a £50 shopping voucher that can be spent in any of the Regent Arcade’s shops – which incidentally include the shoe shops: Sole, Schuh, and shoe repairer Timpsons, says regentarcade.co.uk.
The effort complements the arcade’s current recycling programme, which includes recycling a large amount of customer waste and rainwater harvesting.
Sophie Bourke, marketing assistant at Regent Arcade, comments: “We’re hoping that this competition will encourage shoppers to think more about the positive impact that recycling has on the environment.
“We’ve all got shoes in our cupboards that we hardly ever wear. Instead of throwing them in the bin, why not take them down to Regent Arcade? Your contribution will make a difference,” she urged.
Winners of the competition are announced on Twitter, as well as in store.
