Cigarette Bins to Suit Your Needs

Friday, December 17th, 2010

With the recent change in smoking law, it’s no longer possible to smoke inside public places such as offices and railway stations, so now you often find alternative provisions made for smokers. A similar situation also exists in many people’s houses – a lot of people don’t smoke but have friends or relatives who do, so they make a space for them to smoke outside to keep the fumes away from the house.

This, of course, leaves the way open for cigarette butts to wind up in many and varied places, so if you’re looking for a way to keep the smokers you know tidy, you should consider investing in a good cigarette bin where they can dispose of their waste. There are options available to suit a range of needs and budgets, so take some time to get to know your options before choosing the right cigarette bin to suit your needs.

If you’re looking to create a smoking space for office workers, then your solution will probably be two-fold. Firstly, you may want to consider purchasing a small smoking shelter for people to use when they pop out for a cigarette. This is a good way of containing the size of the smoking area, as well as keeping people dry when it rains. They are easy to assemble and are hard-wearing, with polyester coated steel tubing to ensure the structure stays strong.

Then you can choose from a range of cigarette bins, including the practical Cigarette Ash Bin. This has been especially designed for the job, so you know it will be good. It has an elevated hood to stop the rain getting in, safety features in the form of an anti-theft chain and you can even choose from a range of colours.

Alternatively, if you’re a householder and would prefer it if your smoking guests only smoked outside, then one option you may wish to consider is the Stand Mounted Cigarette Bin. This is great as it’s easily transportable to the area where it’s needed most and, as it’s enclosed with only small gaps with which to extinguish cigarettes, you don’t need to worry about rain or small garden animals getting in. This is a great cigarette bin for all your domestic needs and you can even choose the colour of the stand so it blends in better with its surroundings.

Schools and College – Choosing the Right Bins

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Supplying the right type of bins is crucial for any educational establishment if they are to keep the school or college grounds clear.

School Bins

Littering is not a problem of the youth, or any other social group, it tends to occur because there is inadequate or shortage of bins. When hundreds of people are gathered anywhere, they will produce litter, so ensuring there is somewhere for them to put it is vital if you want to prevent people from discarding litter.

Not only are the number of bins and choosing the right location important, but putting some thought into what is going to be thrown into the bin will help ensure you get the right type and size of bin and in schools and colleges that often means thinking about the type of rubbish your students will be throwing away.

Typically, in most schools and colleges; crisp packets, cans of pop and other snack items make up most of the rubbish so sufficient litter bins in size and number is one way to ensure the students are not littering. But there are other things to think about to:

Selecting the right location for the bins will help ensure the bins are used and not ignored. The canteen and any entrances in and out of the building should always have plenty of bins. Free standing sack holders are the easier solution for this as they are quick to empty and replace the sacks.

But there are other needs for student bins, that have to be thought about. For colleges, despite the policy of the school, smoking will certainly be going on somewhere, often outside entrances, so to prevent a build up of cigarette butts in doorways, its better to place a cigarette bin, or wall mounted ashtray.

Sanitary bins also need to be provided in female bathrooms, as they will also be needed in staff facilities and bins for paper towels will need to be in all bathroom areas.

Classroom bins tend to fill with just waste paper so regular waste baskets are good for here but in the corridors there will be more of a variety of items so having a few wall mounted bins along corridors is a good idea too.

The Smoking Ban and Discarded Cigarette Butts

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

The smoking ban has created a better environment for all of us. But its introduction has had some unforeseen side effects; outside many buildings where smokers now congregate, an unsightly build up of discarded cigarette butts can often be seen.

Many pubs, bars and restaurants have installed ashtrays but often they are too small and they soon over flow and the discarded cigarette butts end up falling on the floor.

Smoking bins are a far more practical solution, especially with the smoking ban meaning that more and more bars, pubs and restaurants have a regular crowd of people outside the doors. Unlike normal litter bins and waste bins, a smoking bin is designed to allow the cigarette to be safely stubbed out before it is discarded.

These cigarette bins are also able to hold large amounts of cigarette ends and can cope with the demands of a busy restaurant or bar. They are also made from metal to prevent any possibility of fire, a problem that can often occur if smokers are forced to discard cigarette ends in conventional waste bins.

A free standing smoking bins as well as wall mounted cigarette bins when compared to ashtrays, don’tt have to be emptied as often and will ensure that the front of the building is not littered with cigarette ends.

Cigarette bins can also help to ensure people are not congregating and blocking entrances and exits. By placing a smoking bin or cigarette bin away from the front door it will steer smokers away from the building’s frontage. Although, if there is no cover you may find people congregating under the nearest porch and so would be best to place the smoking bin there.

Any you could be legally responsible too. Many local authorities are cracking down on the discarding of cigarette materials and large fines are being imposed on both smokers and businesses who allow the littering on the front of their premises.

More and more bars and restaurants are realising that they need to provide facilities now for smokers to prevent either their doorways being blocked or cigarette butts from littering the floor. Smoking shelters are becoming common place and for every shelter it is important that good sized smoking bin is provided to prevent litter.
